Queensland ski bunnies will be greeted by fresh snow when they arrive in Queenstown today on Pacific Blue’s first flight from Brisbane to New Zealand’s southern ski capital.

Pacific Blue’s CEO Mark Pitt said that more than 30 centimetres of fresh snow has fallen in the past few days on Queenstown ski fields, boding well for a good ski season in New Zealand and the airline’s inaugural flight between the two destinations. The Brisbane-Queenstown flights have been introduced on a seasonal basis, with services on Fridays and Sundays. They are in addition to the airline’s twice weekly Sydney-Queenstown flights, which operate year-round. “These flights will add over 3,000 seats to the Queenstown market from Australia for the June-September ski season,” Mr Pitt said. “Forward bookings on the new services are very pleasing and as word spreads about the good snow conditions we expect even more Queenslanders will be booking themselves a value-for-money ski holiday in New Zealand.” Blue Holidays, the holiday program of Virgin Blue Group of Airlines, is offering Australian travellers a great package deal staying at Mercure Queenstown Resort which includes return airfares from Brisbane to Queenstown and seven nights accommodation in a Standard Room from AU$1286* per person twin share. Packages are on sale until 31 July 2010, for travel between now and 31 October 2010.
