THE END

It is with great sympathy that i will be closing this blog down .

At this stage i may restart a new one at some later stage however if i do, it will be only for BNE movements only, not SE QLD.

I am currently on many other aviation groups as a member and things have been getting quite difficult lately in that regard.
I plan to reduce these boards down from 7 or 8 to just a few, over the next week or so.

Again many thanks to Mike who originally set up this blog and to all the contributors such as Terry,Francis,Bert etc.

To the people who know me personally i feel i need a break away from Aviation for at least a month or 2. I have been following aircraft for the past 53 years from the age of 5. I have 2 big overseas hols coming up in September and October-November which hopefully will push me back into doing a blog again.

Cheers to you all for now.

Massive intrastate growth out of BNE

Thanks to BAC

Qld intrastate travel booming

19/04/2012

Brisbane Airport’s recent passenger figures indicate intrastate travel between Brisbane and regional Queensland is growing at more than double the rate of interstate travel.

So significant is the growth that once popular interstate routes are being pushed out of Brisbane’s top 20 city pairs.

Launceston and Hobart have dropped out of the top 20 to make way for Moranbah and Roma, with Gladstone and Emerald also moving up the rankings.

The fastest growing intrastate routes in passenger volume terms for Brisbane Airport include Gladstone, Mackay, Moranbah, Cairns, Emerald, Roma, Whitsunday Coast (Proserpine), Rockhampton, Hervey Bay and Townsville.

Brisbane Airport Corporation’s (BAC) CEO and Managing Director, Julieanne Alroe, said after Sydney, Brisbane has the next best domestic network of all Australian airports in terms of the number of destinations offered.

“Brisbane Airport currently has 44 domestic destinations in its network, 25 of which are Queensland towns or cities,” she said.

With over 1,300 flights and almost 140,000 seats to and from intrastate destinations each week on average, Brisbane Airport continues to play an important role in keeping the State connected.

“In the last 12 months we’ve seen 22 per cent growth in flights and 20 per cent growth in seats offered to and from intrastate destinations and we expect this trend to continue,” she said.

As well as keeping regional communities connected to the capital city, Brisbane Airport’s extensive intrastate network also helps take international visitors in Brisbane to regional destinations.

The International Visitor Survey conducted by Tourism Research Australia noted that last calendar year 42 percent of all international visitors to Queensland’s tourism regions entered Australia at Brisbane Airport.

“Brisbane Airport is the front-door to Queensland for many international visitors.

“This is why BAC’s commitment to investing in development including upgrading existing airport infrastructure and building for the future is so important for Queensland as a whole,” Ms Alroe said.

In March, total passenger numbers through Brisbane Airport increased by 7.9 per cent, with an additional 127,000 travellers through the Domestic and International Terminals compared to the same time last year.

Separately, international passengers increased by 11.1 per cent year-on-year, with domestic traffic up 7.1 per cent for the same period.

DID YBBN reach 21 million pax

BAC last year announced that just under 20.6 million pax passed through it's terminals.Well so far this year the first quarter has seen a 9% growth in pax over 2011 figures for the corresponing 3 months.
JAN 2011 1,582,903
FEB 2011 1,413,900
MAR 2011 1,593,252

or a total of 4,593,055

So far in 2012 those months are
1,754,757
1,529,748
1,722,162

or a total of 5,006,667 which is a extra 413,612 pax for the March quarter this year so adding this to the 20.6 million pax in 2012 and you get around 21 million pax for the 12 months from April 2011 to March 2012.

BNE airport is NO 1 again in customer service.

BNE ranked No.1 for customer service for 8th year by ACCC

30/03/2012

Brisbane Airport retained its first place ranking as Australia’s Best Airport for Quality of Service for the eighth consecutive year in the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) 2010-11 Airport Monitoring Report.

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) also welcomes today’s Productivity Commission (PC) Report into the Economic Regulation of Airport Services which broadly accepts that the current system of regulation for airports should be maintained, as well as the Government’s positive response to the findings.

BAC CEO and Managing Director, Julieanne Alroe, said since privatisation the regulatory environment had undergone significant change.

“The growth of Brisbane Airport, and the significant investment in it over recent years, is a direct result of the regulatory pricing regime originally proposed by the PC in 2002.

“The recent PC findings support the view that the current regulatory environment and dual-till approach to price monitoring allows for stable, long-term investment in critical airport infrastructure to deliver improved facilities and meet growing demand.

“We welcome the Government’s recommendation that there be no change to the current regulatory environment.

“Findings from the ACCC’s annual Airport Monitoring Report also reinforce this position,” she said.

The results from the report focus on quality of service relating to the supply of aeronautical services and facilities at Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney airports, as well as aeronautical prices, costs and profits.

Brisbane Airport achieved:

• the highest overall rating for quality of service for the eighth consecutive year;

• a rating of first out of five airports for quality of service by passengers for three consecutive years;

• a rating of first out of five airports for airport services and facilities by airlines; and

• the highest rating for airport services and facilities by border agencies.

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) CEO and Managing Director, Julieanne Alroe, said BAC was pleased to rank so highly year after year.

“At Brisbane Airport we are constantly striving to achieve our vision to be world-best for passengers, airlines, business and the community, which means we’re on a never-ending quest to find ways to do things better.

‘I give credit to the thousands of workers on airport who have given the airport an international reputation for quality facilities, efficient operations and customer-friendliness,” Ms Alroe said.

Since privatisation in 1997, BAC has invested approximately $1.5 billion in upgrading airport facilities and building new infrastructure, with an additional $2.4 billion forecast for investment over the next decade.

Recent infrastructure projects such as the $250 million Domestic Terminal upgrade included expansion to the Domestic Terminal Common User Satellite, a new nine-level under cover car park and Skywalk to and from the terminal face, as well as upgrades to the Domestic Terminal road network.

The Domestic Terminal Upgrade Project follows the completion of Brisbane Airport’s Moreton Drive in 2009. This four and a half kilometre, multi-lane road was fully funded by BAC as part of an ambitious $4.2 billion infrastructure program.

BAC has also commenced preparations for the construction of a new parallel runway. The $1.3 billion project, due for completion in 2020, will be the first privately funded new runway in the world.

Clear view from Loop Rd to the domestic again

View to the domestic terminal and Apron from our viewing area.

Over the past year sand piles have resulted, as works for the domestic apron expansion and the new link taxyway for the new runway continued.Over the past week most of this has now been flattened and views from our viewing deck to the domestic terminal apron are now unhindered.
The area to the east of this still blocks the view of aircraft coming up from the international and at the holding point for 01 however over time this also should be cleared.
