A sad day for Queensland aviation.

Strategic expands BNE flights
Strategic Airlines boosts Brisbane-Bali services
to three times weekly
COURTESY STRATEGIC PRESS RELEASE
16 SEPTEMBER 2010
Strategic Airlines is set to increase its services from Brisbane to Bali from one to three
times a week, with the introduction of its new Brisbane-Townsville-Denpasar service on 3
December 2010.
The Australian-owned international carrier will provide the new service twice a week, adding to
the weekly Brisbane-Port Hedland-Bali service it established last month.
Strategic will operate the new full-service flights on an Airbus A320 featuring 12 business seats
and 144 economy seats, departing Brisbane every Friday and Sunday.
Head of Commercial for the airline, Damien Vasta, said the weekend schedule would give
Brisbane-based leisure travellers more options for holidays in Bali and far greater access to
flights.
“Bali has always been a popular destination for South East Queenslanders, and they will now find
it easier to explore holiday packages in Bali, whether they want to stay there for three nights, six
nights, eight nights or more,” he said.
“With our new service we are significantly boosting seat capacity while providing extremely
affordable travel to Denpasar, with introductory fares starting from only $339 one-way.”
From 3 December, the Brisbane-Townsville service will depart Brisbane every Friday and Sunday
at 9.50am, arriving in Townsville at 12 midday. Flights will also depart Townsville Airport each
Friday and Sunday afternoon at 1.30pm and arrive in Denpasar at 4.45pm.
The return flights will depart Denpasar at 9.30am every Saturday and Monday morning, and arrive
back in Townsville at 4.15pm. Flights will also depart Townsville every Saturday and Monday at
5.45pm, and arrive in Brisbane at 7.40pm.
In-flight services will include complimentary meals and refreshments, along with a carefully
selected entertainment program available throughout the flight.

Possible new hangar
Clearing work has commenced on what looks like a possible new hangar next to the Virgin Blue hangar at BNE.Rumors and speculation suggest it may be a hangar for Virgin's A330-200's due in may 2011.Time will tell of course, however a new taxiway will have to be built as well.BAC are trying to entice as much maintenance work to BNE as possible in their future plans.
Yesterday Virgin Blue advertised for BNE based engineers with A330 experience,so it does look like some sort of maintenance will be performed at Brisbane for these new wide bodies.
